President Putin says poverty not defeated in Russia yet

MOSCOW, Sep 27 (PRIME) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin has called on the government to raise Russians’ living standards and said that poverty has not been defeated in Russia yet at an online meeting with the government that took place on Monday.

“To say for sure that we have reached our goals, it is early to shout ‘hooray’ as the enemy has not been beaten yet. And what is our enemy? Poverty of a significant part of the people, unsettled issues in the healthcare system, education and infrastructure development,” he said.

“We have what to work on, this is our main antagonist, and our major goal is to raise the living standards and the quality of Russian people’s lives,” he added.

Putin also asked the government to cooperate closely with all the State Duma’s newly elected factions.
